Cubs drop opener

The Chicago Cubs drop it’s opener for the 2007 season 5-1 against the Cincinnati Reds. Carlos Zambrano threw 92 pitches over 5 innings.

Zambrano led the National League in walks, walked lead off batter Ryan Free on four straight pitches. Next, Adam Dunne connected for the first of two home runs. The sole Cubs run was scored by Matt Murton on an overthrow to third base in the fifth.

The Cubs take on Cincinnati again Wednesday at 7:10 pm (EST). Ted Lilly takes the mound against Bronson Arryo, who last year was a Cub killer on both offense and defense.

The Cubs home opener is Monday, April 9 at 2:20 pm (EST) against the Houston Astros.
