Advertising in the outfield, sign of the times

Back on February 14, the Cubs announced they entered into an agreement with Under Armour to put up advertising on the outfield doors. Some fans have scoffed about it. Even Carrie Muskat, the Cubs MLB.com beat reporter has issues with it.

Me? I’m on the "if you want the talent, you have to pay for it somehow" wagon.

Do I wish they did it? No. But am I going to sit here and gripe about it? Nope.

It’s a sign of the times. But Cubs fans, take heart. I don’t think Wrigley will turn into another Cell or a variety of other over ballparks that have advertising all over the stadium.

I think Cubs fans are safe in that i don’t think Tribune will overload the Friendly Confines with advertisements. Players don’t come cheap, after all.

You can read more about the agreement here.
